Three generations of Cantonese cooking.
It started in 1988, when Heidi's parents Tim and Michelle came over from Hong Kong and opened Number One Chinese Restaurant in Bracklesham Bay, bringing proper Cantonese cooking to the coast.
Heidi grew up in that kitchen. She was serving tables at eight years old, and in 2013 she and her husband Wayne took the restaurant on themselves. They ran it right up until Covid forced the doors shut in 2020.
Rather than simply reopen, they wanted to build something new. Wokon is that idea: the same hand-prepared Cantonese food they have always cooked, with a bubble-tea twist the kids (and grown-ups) keep coming back for.
